Mrs Maneka Gandhi was speaking after inaugurating Nand Ghar, the first ultramodern Anganwadi Centre of the country at village Hasanpur in district Sonepat  today. This ultramodern Anganwadi Centre has been set up by Vedanta Group under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode.
She said that said that during the first year, 36 One Stop Centers would be set up in the country and after examining these Centres for six months, 660 more such Centres would be set up in the coming two years. She said that Nand Ghar is the modern form of Anganwadi Centre which has been set up at a cost of Just Rs 12 lakh. It is like a miracle that this Centre has been completed within just 38 days and at such a cheap price, said Mrs Gandhi adding that Vedanta Group would construct as many as 4000 such centres in the country. She said that all kind of facilities have been provided in the Nand Ghar where the use of Solar Energy has also been ensured.

She said that the responsibility to strengthen the future (children) of the country could not be put on the shoulders of one or two women. Therefore, it was necessary that they should be provided adequate place and environment. The Vedanta Group has come forward in this direction who has taken a positive step towards discharging its social responsibility, she added.  She said that the Anganwadi Centres would have to be developed in such a way that the mother could sent their children of 0-6 years of age to these centre without any fear. She also suggested that such centres could also be used as Community Centre for Women where they could assemble in the evening and discuss their problems. Besides, such Centres should also be developed as training centres for women, she asserted.
Mrs Maneka Gandhi said that well furnished toilets have been constructed in Nand Ghar. She lamented that despite of 60 years of independence, no attention was given towards cleanliness. But now Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi has given attention towards this issue which is of great concern for our women. She urged Women and Child Development Minister Mrs Kavita Jain and Member of Parliament Mr Ramesh Kaushik to get the Anganwadi Centres constructed in the State on the similar pattern and said that Centre would assist them in this work. While referring to the One Stop Centre to help women in distress, she said that one such centre has already been set up at Raipur and this would soon be dedicated to the people. These centres would have facilities like telephone, doctors, nurse, lawyer etc and women would be able to redress all their grievances by making a call at this Centre, she added.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs Kavita Jain expressed her gratitude to the Union Minister for setting up of Nand Ghar at village Hasanpur and said that private sector should also come forward and assist the government by contributing in social works. She said that special emphasis was being given on the improvement of Anganwadi Centres in the State. The State has 25,000 such centres out of which only 5000 centres were running in government buildings. She said that the remaining centres would also be provided land with Centre’s assistance. She urged the Vedanta Group to expeditiously complete the work of remaining Nand Ghar to be set up in Haryana and assured that besides land all type of administrative support would be provided for the same.
