CHANDIGARH, JUNE 18
The Haryana Government has decided to extend the contract period of ‘Yashodhas’ working in different district hospitals in the State thus benefitting them to the tune of Rs 1.50 crore per annually.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of General Body of State Health Mission held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal here today.
As many as 171 Yashodhas were engaged on contract basis for providing Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), counseling and support as mother and newborn aide.
The Chief Minister also directed the officers to submit to him a proposal with details of various activities carried out by ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist)workers and also their proposed salary accordingly so that minimum wages could be fixed for them. At present there were 18000 ASHA workers in the State. He said that the State Government wanted to ensure livelihoods of such workers.
Those present in the meeting included Health Minister Mr Anil Vij, Chief Secretary Mr D.S Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Principal Secretary Dr Rakesh Gupta, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Jagdish Chopra, Additional Chief Secretary Health Mr Ram Niwas, Additional Chief Secretary Development and Panchayat Mrs Navraj Sandhu, Principal Secretary Finance Mr P.K Das, Mission Director, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Mr S.K Naryanan, OSD (Media) to Chief Minister Mr Amit Arya and other senior officers of various departments .
