Haryana pays rich tribute to Abdul Kalam

CHANDIGARH, JULY 28
 Rich tributes were paid to former President of India  Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam by Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal and his cabinet colleagues at a condolence meeting held at Haryana Civil secretariat here today. A two minutes silence was also observed to mourn his demise and they prayed that the departed soul might rest in peace.
        Speaker, Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Mr Kanwar Pal also paid tributes to former President Dr Kalam and prayed that the departed soul might rest in peace.
        While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the sudden passing away of Dr Kalam had shocked the people and the entire nation was plunged into darknessgloom.
        Later while talking to media persons, the Chief Minister said that in his death the nation has lost a great scientist, educationist, able administrator and a dedicated scientist who initiated the missile programme in India. He said that Dr. Kalam has, as a scientist, taken science and technology to new heights and made an exemplary contribution in making  India a nuclear power.
        The Chief Minister said that Dr. Kalam who was born in a simple family at Shri Rameshwaram  in Tamil Nadu, had reached the Rashtrapati Bhavan after great sacrifice, hard work and on the strength of his determination. He said that Dr. Kalam was an epitome of simple living and high thinking and he was honoured with the highest honours like Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bushan and Bharat Ratna for his great service. He said that in real terms, Dr. Kalam was a Bharat Ratna who devoted his entire life for  development  of the nation.
        He said that the country has got guidance from his vision to bring India into category of developed nations from that of developing countries by the year 2020. His life would always be an inspiration for all of us especially the youngstersyouth, he added.
        Those who paid floral tributes to Dr Kalam included  Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal; Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma; Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu; Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij; Agriculture Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar; Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh; Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain; Transport Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar; Cooperation Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Yadav; Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Minister, Mr. Krishan Kumar; Public Health and Engineering Minister, Mr. Ghanshyam Saraf; Minister of State for Mines and Geology, Mr. Nayab Singh; MLA Mr. Mahipal Dhanda.
        On this occasion, Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal; Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. Rakesh Gupta; OSD to Chief Minister, Mr. Jawahar Yadav and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi were also present.
