Haryana Vidhan Sabha passes 4 bills on last day of session

CHANDIGARH, DEC 1
On the last day of Winter Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, four amendments have been passed. These include the Haryana Gau-Seva Aayog (Amendment) Bill, 2015, the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2015, Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2015 and the Haryana Panchayati Raj (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015.
The Haryana Guvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015, has been put in place by the State and therefore, multifarious activities with regard to protection and conservation of cattle, including establishment of “Gau Abharayans” and “Gaugrahas”, would also have to be looked after by the Gau Aayog. Hence, increase in number of members from 12 to 16 was proposed.
Under the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2015, PDM University will be set up in Bahadurgarh, district Jhajjar. This University would be the 19th private university of the State after implementation of the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006. Similarly, following the implementation of the Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2015, the University would be upgraded and postgraduate courses could be introduced.
Similarly, the Haryana Panchayati Raj (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015, states that as there is a complete ban on the sale and purchase of elephants all over India, it is necessary to delete the word elephant in clause (xi) of section 2 of the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994.
