CM Twitter handle leads to quick action

CHANDIGARH, JAN 10
Going live with the Chief Minister Manohar Lal on his Twitter handle has brought some complainants quick action and fast response in less than 48 hours.
Not only have they got their specific problems solved and mess around cleaned up but also secured facilities like additional bus services in late hours on certain routes to the advantage of hundreds of fellow denizens. The promptitude with which their grievances have been acted upon, looks for any parallel.
Taking prompt action on a complaint regarding the burning of garbage lodged by a resident of Sonipat, the Chief Minister’s Office directed the Sonipat Deputy Commissioner to address the issue at the earliest. The complainant had posted on CM’s Twitter that garbage was being burnt at an empty plot opposite the TDI City near Sector 15, Sonipat.
No sooner did the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Rajiv Ratan, get the complaint than he sent Executive Officer (EO), Municipal Corporation, Mr. Rohtash Bishnoi, and EO, HUDA, Mr. Vijay Rathee, to the spot. Finding that some private garbage collectors working in some sectors were burning the garbage, the duo warned them that action would be taken under the National Green Tribunal’s order in this matter.
The officers of Municipal Corporation and HUDA have been directed to find a permanent solution to the problem. They have also been told to issue challans to the violators and impound their vehicles. A solid waste management plant is being constructed in village Tajpur which would offer a permanent solution of the waste disposal problem faced by the residents of Sonipat.
In quick response to the tweets regarding the absence of bus services in late hours on certain routes, the Transport Department has introduced buses for the convenience of passengers. Mr Jatin Saini had tweeted that there was no connectivity between Rohtak and Gurgaon after 5 pm. The General Manager, Haryana Roadways, Gurgaon, has started operating buses on the Gurgaon-Rohtak route at 5 pm, 5.40 pm, 6 pm and 6.30 pm.
On the Gurgaon-Bahadurgarh route, additional bus services have been started at 5.30 pm and 8 pm. The GM, Haryana Roadways, Jhajjar, has started operating buses on the Gurgaon-Bahadurgarh route at 6.30 pm, 7 pm, 7.30 pm and 8.25 pm. Similarly, on Yamunanagar to Ambala route, bus services have been started at 5:30 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm and 8 pm.
The response to the tweet of Mr Sunil that there was no Roadways service after 7 pm between Gurgaon and Rewari, putting thousands of daily passengers to great inconvenience, was no less prompt. The GM, Haryana Roadways, Gurgaon, has started operating buses on the Gurgaon-Rewari route via IFFCO Chowk at 5 pm, 6 pm and 7 pm and GM, Rewari, is operating buses from Gurgaon to Rewari via IFFCO Chowk at 6.45 pm, 7.30 pm and 8.15 pm. This solves the problems of hundreds of commuters and passengers.
Action has also been taken on the complaint tweeted by Mr Mohit regarding the door-to-door garbage collection scheme launched by the Amabla Municipal Corporation. The number of sweepers, trash cans and rehdis has been increased and cleanliness is improving.
The Municipal Commissioner, Mr Ajay Singh Tomar, said that cleanliness arrangements had been streamlined. Trash cans placed at various places have been given numbers, and at their bottom, phone numbers have been mentioned on which one can lodge a complaint.
The cleaning of main drains in Ambala has been done and 200 employees have been posted for the smooth cleanliness management in Ambala Cantonment. The responsibility to keep a vigil on their work has been entrusted to Chief Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary Inspector. Work on the reconstruction of such toilets as were not in good condition would be completed by January 11, 2016, Mr Tomar added.
