Haryana CM hints at judicial inquiry if needed

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 9The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that an inquiry committee, headed by Mr Prakash Singh, former Director General of Police (DGP) of UP, has been set up to probe the recent incidents during the Jat reservation agitation in the state, and, if needed, the option of setting up a judicial inquiry can also be exercised.
Addressing a press conference here today, he said that the inquiry committee would look into various aspects of the violence. Arrests are being made on the basis of the video and audio clips. People have heard the audio clip of Prof. Virender Singh, political advisor to the former Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, which had gone viral.
POLICE LOOKING FOR PROF VIRENDER: The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today said that separate teams of police had been constituted to nab Prof. Virender Singh, political advisor to the former Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, against whom arrest warrants had been issued in a sedition case.
Addressing a press conference here today, he said that police teams had been formed and as soon as any information about Prof. Virender Singh is received, he would be arrested. Had Mr Hooda assisted the police, Prof Virender would have been arrested so far, the Chief Minister added.HARYANA DEMAND FOR WATER: The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that Haryana is demanding passage for its own share of water from through the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal and not Punjab’s share of water. The water belongs to Haryana and the state would get it, he added.
Addressing a press conference here today, the Chief Minister said that the Supreme Court had accepted state’s request for early hearing on the presidential reference in the case which had been pending for the last 10-12 years. He hoped that the decision would come in favour of Haryana.POWER DEPARTMENT: Haryana Power Department has appointed Chief Engineer, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Mr. Naresh Sardana as Director Technical, UHBVN and Chief Engineer, UHBVN, Mr. Ajmer Gill as Director Technical, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited with immediate effect.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Power Department said that both these officers have vast experience on technical posts in the Haryana Power Utilities.ADO CAUGHT RED-HANDED: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught Pardeep Kumar, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Sonipat, red-handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 from Mr. Naresh Kumar, a resident of Aawli, tehsil Gohana, district Sonipat in lieu of passing a subsidy of Rs one lakh of wheat cutting machine.
