The Executive Committee of Jat Sabha Chandigarh/Panchkula has demanded a judicial enquiry by serving judge of High Court or Supreme Court of India should be carried out so as to fix the responsibility and also to ensure impartiality, fair-play, transparency and public faith in the enquiry.
This decision was unanimously taken in the Executive Committee meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Dr. M. S. Malik, IPS (Rtd.) former Director General of Police Haryana and President of the Jat Sabha.
Dr. Malik said that the Executive Committee unanimously resolved to express deep sorrow and heart- stricken condolences on the loss of more than 30 lives during the protest demanding reservation for Jats under Other Backward Class (OBC) quota from February 18, 2016 throughout the State.
The Jat Sabha further expressed deep anguish and regret for the loss of lives and destruction of public/private properties worth crores of rupees on account of lawlessness, mismanagement and total government/administrative failure for maintenance of peace and harmony during the agitation. Mr. Malik further said that a judicial enquiry by serving judge of Hon’ble High Court/Supreme Court of India should be carried out so as to fix the responsibility and also to ensure impartiality, fair-play, transparency and public faith in the enquiry.
People of the State do not have much faith in the ongoing enquiry panel which is headed by the retired Director General of Police as allegations have already being levelled against the functioning of local police and failure of the administration, said Mr Malik, who is also former president of Wrestling Federation of India.
The Jat Sabha has also decided not to celebrate Holi on March 24 on account of the unfortunate happenings and violent incidents i.e. loss of life and public property during agitation in the State. The Jat Sabha will hold Prayer Sabha on the Martyr Day i.e. Shaheedi Divas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23 from 12 noon to 2.00 p.m at Sir Chhotu Ram Jat Bhawan, Sector 6, Panchkula. At the same time, deliberations will also be held to devise ways and means and to strengthen peace, communal harmony, solidarity and inter-caste brotherhood throughout the State. The Jat Sabha will be inviting respectables from all castes and creed to join the Prayer Sabha and mutual discussions.

In addition, 36 biradaries from Haryana and adjoining areas of Punjab, Chandigarh are being requested to attend the Prayer Sabha and deliberations in the interest of maintenance of peace, harmony and solidarity in the State. The Sabha has also called upon the State government to provide reservation to Jats under OBC quota as pronounced and declared by the Government of India and the Government of Haryana.
