Steps to reduce vehicular air pollution

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 28
 Haryana Environment Minister Capt. Abhimanyu said that several steps are being taken to reduce vehicular air pollution in the State.
          The Minister was replying to a question raised during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
          He said that 868 Pollution Control Check Centres had been authorised in the State to enable the owners to get the pollution level of their vehicles checked regularly.
          The Minister said that Bharat Stage IV (BS-IV) emission norms have been made applicable for all four-wheeled vehicles manufactured on or after October 1, 2015, except vehicles plying on inter-state permits, national permits or all India tourist permits. BS-IV compliant vehicles cause less environmental pollution as compared to the vehicles complying with lower emission standards, he added.
          He said that registration of SUVs and private cars of capacity 2000cc and above, using diesel as fuel, has been banned in Haryana Sub-Region of National Capital Region.
 NEW TRANSFER POLICY OF TEACHERS:  Haryana Education Minister  Ram Bilas Sharma said that a new policy for transfer  of teachers in the Education Department was under consideration of the Government. He said that it was likely to be implemented in 2016-17.
          The Minister was replying to a question during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
 DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ESTATE:  Haryana Industries Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, said that 210-acre land would be developed and utilised by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) for developing an industrial estate after receipt of encumbrance-free possession from the Cement Corporation of India (CCI).
          The Minister was replying to a question during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
 LADWA TO BE TEHSIL: Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the proposal to upgrade Ladwa Sub Tehsil as Tehsil was under consideration of the State Government.
        Capt. Abhimanyu was replying to a question in the Budget Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
        He said that the proposal to upgrade the Sub  Tehsil was under consideration of a committee constituted by the State Government under the chairmanship of Agriculture Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar. He said that Cooperation Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Yadav, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar Bedi, Food and Supplies Minister, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj are Members of the Committee. The decision would soon be taken, he added.
ROAD ACCIDENT DEATHS: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said that 5,250 persons died and 11,564 injured in road accidents between January 1, 2015 and January 31, 2016.
          The Chief Minister was replying to a question raised during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
          He said that 12,009 accidents occurred during this period. As many as 8,912 vehicles which had caused accidents were traced and 8,849 drivers were arrested, he added.

While steps are being taken to reduce air pollution at the national and state levels, cities could improve the national performance by introducing complementary initiatives. how is the air in delhi
