Defining term meritorious for admissions

Chandigarh, April 22
The Haryana Government has issued detailed  guidelines regarding definition of the term meritorious for admissions under Rule 134-A of Haryana School Education Rules 2003 in all private schools in the state.Rule 134-A deals with admission to EWS/ BPL meritorious students in the private schools.
        This was stated by Education Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma while presiding over a meeting of officers of School Education Department here today.
       Detailing about the definition mentioned for admissions, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said, “Merit of the applicant students of the government schools of the state will be determined on the basis of their performance in the Monthly Assessment Tests held in the previous years. The word ‘Meritorious’ will include the students who have secured at least 50 per cent marks in each of the last four Monthly Assessment Tests,that is November, December, January and February and at atleast 55 per cent marks in these tests of the previous class conducted by Department of School Education in Haryana.  In the case of applicant students coming from private schools in the State and from outside the State, a committee headed by ADC will conduct the test. The students securing 55 per cent marks will be considered as Meritorious. The question paper for the said test will be set by SCERT, Gurgaon.” The test will be conducted on the sub division level and the date of test would be intimated by the department.
        The Minister said that fee would be reimbursed online by the government to the private schools in respect of the students admitted by them under Rule 134 A on quarterly basis at the rates fixed by the government from time to time. All such admissions will be uploaded on the web portal of the Directorate by the concerned schools, he added.
        He said that schedule regarding further action is being issued in this regard.
