Uploading photos of damaged roads on WhatsApp

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 30
The Haryana  Government would soon release a WhatsApp number through which anyone in any part of the State can send a photograph of a damaged road, which would then be repaired within the next 48 hours.
This was stated by Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh while interacting with media persons after inaugurating two Anganwadi Centres in village Sadhrana, district Gurgaon, today.
He said that after a year, people coming from other states would feel the difference in roads here and they would realise that the roads in Haryana are far better as compared to those of other states. The condition of roads here would speak of the development taking place in the state.
The Minister said that the Department would spend Rs 213 crore on various development works in district Gurgaon during the current financial year.
Replying to a question, Rao Narbir Singh said that the Department would spend about Rs 108 crore on repair and strengthening of roads, about Rs 50 crore on construction of various buildings apart from the PWD Rest House in Gurgaon, work of which is going on in full swing. The Rest House alone would cost about Rs 26 crore. It will be the biggest PWD Rest House in the state. Similarly, the Department would incur   about Rs 57 crore on construction of Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) in the district. He said that in addition, with the help of Central Government, construction of flyover at Hero Honda Chowk on NH-8 is in progress and it will cost about Rs 200 crore. Besides, the Central Government has also released   Rs 1,000 crore for remodeling of three important intersections on NH-8 to resolve the problem of traffic jam in Gurgaon city.
He said, “We are going to spend around Rs 13 crore on strengthening and construction of roads in Sohna Assembly Constituency, about Rs 33.37 crore in Badshahpur Assembly Constituency and   Rs 60.53 crore in Pataudi Assembly segment.”
He said that since a major part of Gurgaon Assembly Constituency is urbanised and Public Works (Building and Roads) Department has roads in rural areas, the Department would be contributing in construction of buildings in this assembly segment.
