20 elected unanimously in MCs elections

CHANDIGARH, MAY 14
As many as 20 candidates have been elected unanimously as a total of 4,173 nominations have been filed to contest General Elections to 14 Municipal Councils and 28 Municipal Committees as well as bye-elections in Haryana.
While stating this here today, Haryana State Election Commissioner, Mr Rajeev Sharma said that those elected unanimously included nine males and 11 females.
He said that in case of Municipal Councils, the highest number of 209 nominations  have been  filed in Bahadurgarh and lowest number of 85 in Mandi Dabwali.  In case of 28 Municipal Committees, the highest number of 131 nominations were filed in Barwala and lowest number of 37 in Nissing. 
         Out of total, 4038 nominations were valid, 122 were rejected, 680 were withdrawn, 20  candidates were elected unanimously. As many as 3,338 candidates are contesting against 770 seats.
            He said that 2,061 nominations were filed for elections to Municipal Councils of which 1,181 were filed by male candidates and 880 by female candidates. Out of total 1,995 nominations were valid, 66 were rejected, 257 were withdrawn and eight candidates were elected unanimously. As many as 1,730 candidates are contesting against 346 seats.
          He said that 2,099 nominations were filed for elections to Municipal Committees of which 1,137 were filed by male candidates and 962 by female candidates.  Out of total 2,043 nominations were valid, 56 were rejected, 423 were withdrawn and 12 candidates were elected unanimously. As many as 1,608 candidates are contesting against 424 seats.     
            In case of bye elections, a total of 13 nominations have been filed and these included eight male candidates and five females.He said that five nominations have been filed for Municipal Corporation, Panipat and all these were filed by female candidates. Out of the total, 12 nominations were valid, one was rejected, two were withdrawn and two candidates are contesting against one seat.
He said that six nominations were filed for Municipal Council, Rewari and all these were filed by male candidates. Out of total, all six nominations were valid and all candidates are contesting against one seat.
He said that two nominations were filed for bye elections to Municipal Committee, Kalanaur and they all are male candidates, all nominations are valid and they are contesting against one seat, he added.
