Bio-plant to be set up to generate power from paddy/wheat stalks

CHANDIGARH, MAY 14
Haryana Minister of State for Renewable Energy Nayab Singh Saini said that a bio-plant would be set up to generate power from stalks of  paddy and wheat. Also, this plant would help in providing employment to the jobless.
          While giving this information, he said that Haryana Solar Energy Policy-2016 has been formulated for creating conducive environment for investment in the field of solar energy. Many agreements have been signed with various entrepreneurs for investment in this field. Under Solar Energy Policy-2016, besides the targets of Renewable Energy Purchase Obligation   of Renewable Energy Department, consumers are being encouraged to install plants on rooftops to generate solar energy.
          He said that to encourage green and clean power generation by using solar energy, four power purchase agreements of 23 megawatt solar energy and for the allocation of 13 projects for generating 165 megawatt solar energy, agreements have been signed with independent power producers. An interim secretariat of International Solar Alliance with organization of 121 countries is being constructed in Gurgaon. In view of golden jubilee celebrations of Haryana, a special programme has also been initiated for providing one lakh solar home systems of 100 watt each to beneficiaries in a phased manner in three years. It would cost Rs 180 crore.
 Mr Nayab Singh Saini said that solar energy water pumping systems are being set up to meet the irrigation needs of the farmers and during the current financial year, 500 solar water pump sets would be established by providing state and central subsidy at the rate of 30 per cent each.
          While giving this information today, he said that about 3,050 solar water pumping systems have been proposed to be set up in the current financial year at the cost of about Rs 39 crores.
          He said that the state government is opening shops and sale  centers for providing solar energy equipment to the consumers on subsidy at all petrol pumps of Indian Oil located in the state. This would help in saving of electricity.
