Sonepat-Jind railway line to be dedicated to nation

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 25
An 81-km long new railway line between Sonepat and Jind will be dedicated to the nation and a passenger train between these two stations would be flagged off by the Union Railways Minister, Mr Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu on June 26,2016.
        While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Government said that the Union Railway Minister will also launch a number of other passenger-centric projects from Railway Station, Chandigarh, through Video Conferencing the same day. Mr Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will be accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal at Railway Station, Chandigarh. The Union Rural Development Minister, Ch. Birender Singh will be present at Railway Station, Sonepat.
        He said that running of passenger train between these important cities would also connect several hinterland villages and urban clusters with 13 railway stations, of which 10 will be new railway stations.
        He said that other projects to be launched from the same venue included new Foot-over-Bridge at Platform No. 4 and 5, Railway Station, Sonepat and inauguration of a mechanized laundry in Chandigarh. The laundry would cater requirement of linen for entire Ambala division. He said that apart from this, foundation stone of Coaching-cum-Maintenance Facilities at Railway Station, Chheharta near Amritsar would also be laid. While the foundation stones of additional traffic facilities would be laid at Railway Station, Chandigarh, that of 17 lift and 10 escalator facilities would be laid at different railway stations. He said that apart from this, foundation stones of 37 Limited Height Subways in the States of Punjab and Haryana would be laid.
        He said that others who would be present at Railway Station, Chandigarh included Union Food Processing Industries Minister, Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr Parkash Singh Badal.
