Free travel for ladies on Raksha Bandhan

CHANDIGARH, JULY 27
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, sisters who want to travel in Haryana Roadways buses for tying rakhis to their brothers in the state will be able to avail themselves of the facility of free travel, this year too.
   Giving this information here today, the Transport Minister, Mr Krishan Lal Panwar, said the department would provide the facility of free travel for 36 hours, from 12pm on August 17 to 12 am on August 18. Apart from women, their children up to the age of 14 years would also be allowed free travel, he added.
Meanwhile, the Haryana Jails Minister, Mr Krishan Lal Panwar, has said that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan next month, sisters would be able to tie rakhis on the wrists of their imprisoned brothers without any hassles.
          Officers of the department have been issued directions to allow sisters to meet their brothers in the hall of jails on this pious occasion. Earlier, they had to tie rakhis with a net thrown between them and their brothers. This condition has been lifted this year, he added.
KK KHANDELWAL: The Haryana government has designated Mr.Krishan Kumar Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department as Additional Chief Secretary, Swaran Jayanti Celebrations and Principal Executive Officer, Haryana Swaran Jayanti Celebrations for proper coordination with other departments.
TERMS EXTENDED: The  Haryana government has extended the term of Mr. Justice (Retd) Iqbal Singh, Chairman, Haryana Statute Review Committee up to September 24, 2016.
TREE PLANTATION: The Haryana Forest Department has decided to plant trees around old ponds and ‘bainis’ during the ongoing Van Mohotsav.
While stating this today, Haryana Forests Minister, Rao Narbir Singh   said that this drive would continue throughout the year and a target has been set to plant about two crore saplings during this period.
   He urged the people to plant saplings on different occasions like birthdays, marriages, anniversaries and festivals to make them more memorable. He said that every person should take a pledge to plant at least two trees during his life time to reduce the effect of global warming and climate change.
   He said that the Department has given slogan ‘Gaon Vano Ki Aur’ for this year’s Van Mohotsav whereas last year it was ‘Har Ghar Hariyali’.
   Rao Narbir Singh urged representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, non-governmental organisations, social organisations and other influential people of villages to come forward to support this campaign of the government so that the aim of Van Mohotsav could be achieved and existence of forests could be maintained.
RESIGNATIONS ACCEPTED: Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kanwar Pal today accepted the resignation of two MLAs from membership of different committees of the Vidhan Sabha.
         While Mr Manish Kumar Grover has resigned from the Chairpersonship of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation, on being appointed as Minister of State, Mr Anoop Dhanak has resigned from the Membership of the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Committee.
RENAMING COLLEGE:  Haryana Government has decided to rename the Government College, Bapauli  as Government College, Behrampur (Bapauli) with immediate effect.
   This was stated by a spokesman of Higher Education Department here today.
