Haryana CM announces constitution of 'Safai Karamchari Ayog’

CHANDIGARH, OCT 15
 While announcing bonanza for the Safai Karamcharis in the State, the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today announced to constitute ‘Haryana Safai Karamchari Ayog’ in the State. The Ayog will look after the interest of Safai Karamcharis and work for their betterment.
Mr Manohar Lal was speaking as a Chief Guest in the State Level Samrasta Divas Samaroh organized on the eve of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti at Jind today. He said that efforts would be made to ensure that 50 per cent Safai Contracts (contracts of cleanliness)    are given to the people belonging to Valmiki Community.
On this occasion, he also announced a slew of incentives for the people belonging to Valmiki Community. These included Rs 21 lakh each for the construction of Valmiki Bhawan at Barara in district Ambala and Karnal and Rs 21 lakh on behalf of Union Minister for Steel Ch. Birender Singh for the construction of Balmiki Bhawan in Narwana, recruitment of 1,000 new safai karamacharis in rural areas in the next two months and their salaries would also be increased, village level committees on every 10 to 15 villages to ensure that the Safai Karamcharis get adequate tools and dress. He also announced to institute award after the name of Dayanad Mayana, a freedom fighter and renowned sangi belonging to Valmiki Community and said that the new sports stadium in sector-9, Jind would be named after Eklavya.
Mr. Manohar Lal said that the State Government would also ensure that proper reservation policy is followed while recruitment in different departments through outsourcing so that candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes could get the benefit of reservation. He also announced that a special recruitment drive would be launched to complete the backlog of vacant posts reserved for Scheduled Castes category in different department of the state within next six months. He assured that the State Government would strongly plead the case regarding the SC-A and SC-B in the Supreme Court.
While congratulating the people on the eve of birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki, the Chief Minister exhorted the people to take inspiration from his life. He said that last year on the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki, he had announced in Kaithal that Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, Guru Ravidas Jayanti, Saint Kabir Jayanti and Ambedkar Jayanti would be celebrated at the State level. In the same series, today’s function has been organized. On this occasion, he also urged the people to take maximum benefit of schemes being run for the welfare of scheduled castes.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has completed it’s about two year’s tenure. During this period, he has visited 76 out of total 90 assembly constituencies and announced various projects of development as per the demand and requirement of the area. Terming the third year as of prime importance, he said that during this year, focus of his government would be on providing maximum jobs to the youth, be it in the government sector, private sector or by making them self-employed through skill development so as to realize the dream of poor and needy.
He said that the State Government would increase the monthly old age allowance to Rs 1,600 from January 1, 2017. Referring to the demand of Union Minister Ch. Birender  Singh, the Chief Minister assured that the State Government would get the proposal examined regarding reducing the age limit of SC beneficiaries of old age allowance from 60 years to 55. He said that the State Government is working to make the State kerosene free. It is matter of pride that eight districts would become kerosene free by November 1, 2016 and by March 31, 2017, all districts of the State would achieve this feat, he added.
The Chief Minister said that aim of the State Government is to provide affordable housing facility to all. The Haryana Housing Board has constructed and allotted 87,000 houses including 65,000 to the Economic Weaker Section. Apart from this, 13,000 houses are under construction of which 5,000 houses would be allotted before December 31, 2016. He said that the Government plans to provide two lakh affordable houses in the State by next three years.
He said that the State Government’s resolve is to end corruption and provide a transparent and responsible administration to the people. He said that it is one of the specialities of the State Government that none of its leader is facing any charge of corruption. He said that ration cards in the State has been made online to ensure transparency in the distribution of essential commodities. A survey has been got conducted in which, five lakh families have been found using both kerosene and LPG gas. The State Government has discontinued issuing the supply of kerosene to such beneficiaries which resulted in saving subsidy to the tune of Rs 101 crore.
Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Union Minister for Steel, Ch. Birender Singh urged the people belonging to scheduled castes to remain united and not to be misguided by those having vested interests. Without naming the party, he said that during the last 60 years, a party made tall claims for their welfare but did nothing after they came into the power.
Others who also spoke on this occasion included Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P Dhankar, Transport Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar, Minister of State for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Mr. Krishan Kumar Bedi, BJP State President, Mr. Subhash Barala, Member of Parliament, Mr. Ramesh Kaushik, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Bakshish Singh Virk and MLAs namely Mr. Vishambhar Valmiki and Mrs. Santosh Sarwan.
