60.26 MT of paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

CHANDIGARH, NOV 16
 More than 60.26 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana whereas 54.37 lakh MT of paddy had arrived in the mandis during the corresponding period last year.
        While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that out of the total arrival, 53.27 lakh MT of paddy is leviable. The government procurement agencies have procured about 53 lakh MT of paddy and over 7.29 lakh MT has been procured by millers and dealers.
        He said that more than 12.18 lakh MT of paddy has arrived in mandis of Karnal, over 10.99 lakh MT of paddy in Kurukshetra, more than 7.25 lakh MT of paddy in Ambala,   6.97 lakh MT in Kaithal, more than 6.86 lakh MT in Fatehabad, over 5.26 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, more than 2.66 lakh MT in Jind, more than 1.45 lakh MT in Sirsa, over 1.37 lakh MT in Palwal and more than 1.36 lakh MT in Sonipat. He said that over 1.19 lakh MT of paddy has arrived in Panchkula, 69,743 MT in Hisar, 24,319 MT in Faridabad, 4,427 MT in Mewat, 2,085 MT in Rohtak, 2,730 MT in Jhajjar and 53 MT in Gurugram.
        The spokesman said that more than 22.46 lakh MT of paddy has been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, more than 18.33 lakh MT by Hafed, over 6.21 lakh MT by the Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, more than 5.64 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 30,567 MT has been purchased by the Food Corporation of India.
          He said that 27,304 MT of bajra has so far arrived in the mandis, as compared to 20,527 MT during the corresponding period last year. While traders have purchased 20,963 MT of bajra, government agencies have so far procured 6,341 MT of bajra.
ONLINE PAYMENT: Jhajjar Deputy Commissioner, R.C Bidhan said that all the government hospitals, caterers and tent house owners and other establishments in the district would have to accept payments online and through cheque or demand draft as this system of payment is legal.
          Mr Bidhan said that it has come to the notice of the administration that a few tent house owners and caterers were refusing to accept payment online and through cheque or demand draft which is legally wrong.
          The Deputy Commissioner warned that legal action would be taken against those refusing to accept payment through this system. He said that if anyone in the district faced such a problem, he should bring it to the notice of the district administration so that appropriate action could be taken against such defaulters.
