Faridabad YMCA Varsity to introduce three new courses

CHANDIGARH, NOV 17
 The YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad is planning to introduce new courses of engineering such as B.Tech (Civil). The University has started three new courses in the current academic session, which include M.Sc in Chemistry and Environment Science and M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication.
        This was disclosed by Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dinesh Kumar in a press conference at Faridabad today.
        He said that the University would soon have new administrative block, academic block, a girls’ hostel and residential block for employees, among other infrastructure development projects to be completed at a cost of more than Rs 50 crore. The Executive Council of the University has approved these projects in a meeting held in the university campus at Faridabad today, he added.
        He said that the new six-storey administrative block would be constructed at a cost of Rs 18 crore. Similarly, Rs 12 crore would be spent on construction of five-storey academic block, Rs 8.5 crore on five-storey girls’ hostel and Rs 17 crore on nine-storey residential block for employees. The construction would be got completed in about two years. He said that land was being identified in Faridabad and nearby areas for expansion of the university campus.
        He said that the University had been accredited with Grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recently. Therefore, the report of NAAC was also reviewed in the meeting. He said that it was a big achievement to get Grade ‘A’ in the first cycle of accreditation. He expressed gratitude towards Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki and Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal for their guidance and assistance.
        The Vice-Chancellor said that while reviewing the NAAC report, the Executive Council observed that the University needed to bring in further improvements in the field of research and development. He said that now emphasis would be laid on making the University a premier institute for research and development. For this purpose, the University would seek assistance to the tune of Rs 10 crore from the State Government, so as to enhance the research facilities in the university and set up new centres of excellence for different disciplines.
        He said that the University would now apply for accreditation of National Board of Accreditation (NBA). With NBA accreditation, the engineering courses in the university would be globally acceptable and students would get its benefit on national and international levels. Besides, the University would also be able to receive grants from the central and global grant agencies.
        Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that the University was planning to introduce new courses of engineering such as B.Tech (Civil).
