Haryana implementing Indo-Israel agriculture project

CHANDIGARH, NOV 18
 Haryana has become a pioneer state by  adopting technique of Israel in the areas of agriculture and horticulture and has the capability to guide such  techniques to other states.
        This was stated by President of Israel Mr Reuven Rivlin while interacting with media persons   at Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, Gharaunda, Karnal today.
        While congratulating the State Government and its farmers for implementation of the Indo-Israel project, he said that Haryana State is moving ahead by adopting modern technology of Israel. He also appreciated the development taken place in horticulture sector in the state and added that like Israel, horticulture technology has flourished in Haryana. Farmers of Haryana had adopted this technology on a large scale and a massive change is visible.
        He said that India and Israel are jointly working for the promotion of horticulture, irrigation, agriculture, trade and culture. Both the countries have cordial relations and are moving ahead not only at government level but the people of both countries also understand each other well in the areas of  business and other sectors. Other countries should also work to adopt high-tech and modern technology.
        Earlier, he also visited Hi-tech Green House where he had got information about seed production through Indo-Israel technology. The President and his wife Mrs Nechama Rivlin also planted a sapling on this occasion.
        Speaking on this occasion, Agriculture Minister Mr O.P. Dhankar said that Israel is one of the leading countries in   farming. Haryana has adopted Israeli system under which five different centres of excellence have been established in the state including the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for vegetable at Gharaunda, CoE for Fruits at Ladwa, CoE for bee-keeping at Ramnagar, CoE for Fruits at village Mangiana, Sirsa and CoE for Dairy Farming at Hisar. He said that a CoE for flowers would soon be established in Jhajjar so as to promote floriculture in the state. Land for this CoE had already been identified. He hoped that relations between India and Israel   would continue to be stronger and both the countries wouldll proceed further with mutual cooperation.
        Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Mr Karan Dev Kamboj, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr Bakhshish Singh Virk, Chairman HAFED Mr Harvinder Kalyan, Ambassador of Israel to India Mr Daniel Carmon, Principal Secretary Agriculture Dr Abhilaksh Likhi and other senior officers of both the Central and State governments were present on the occasion.
