Haryana to construct 7 big gates for beautification of Karnal

CHANDIGARH,  NOV 14
The Haryana Government would construct seven big gates for the beautification of Karnal, of which one would be named after Guru Nanak Devji.
          This was disclosed by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, who was speaking at a function organised on the occasion of Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Devji, after laying the foundation stone of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Dharamshala in Dera Kar Sewa in Karnal today.
        He said that the four-storey dharamshala, to be built on a piece of land measuring one lakh square feet, would comprise 52 rooms and two big halls. A big light would also be installed in Dera Kar Sewa. The district administration would make arrangements for parking. He also announced to give Rs 21 lakh from his discretionary fund for the construction of the dharamshala.
        Paying glowing tributes to the first Sikh guru, the Chief Minister said that Guru Nanak Devji launched the Bhakti Movement and made the people aware through songs and music. He taught the people that the society would progress if they worked hard and worshipped God. His message to eschew discrimination on the basis of caste and religion is still relevant  and everyone should follow it, he added.
        He also lauded the efforts made by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Mirabai and Sant Kabir to promote values such as patriotism, spirit of public service, and making the people aware about the needs of the society.
        He said that 98 per cent of the people were happy with the historic decision of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, regarding demonetisation of high-denomination currency notes. He said that the Prime Minister made the announcement at 8 p.m. on November 8 and set the deadline for utilisation of the old Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes to prevent those hoarding black money from taking evasive action. Therefore, utter secrecy was maintained in this regard, he added.
        The Chief Minister also honoured Prabhjot Kaur for bagging first position in 21st Road National Cycle Competition organised in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh from November 5 to 8. He also felicitated Coach Devendra Singh. He also paid obeisance  at Dera Kar Sewa and partook of langar.
