Loans to employees through a public sector bank

CHANDIGARH, NOV 3
Haryana has become the first state in the country to provide the facility of various types of loans to its employees through a public sector bank. The Haryana Government would now provide loans such as home loan, vehicle loan and marriage loan, to its employees through Punjab National Bank (PNB).
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the Haryana Government and PNB in the presence of the Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, here today. The agreement was signed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Mr. P. Raghavendra Rao, and Executive Director, PNB, Mr Sanjeev Sharan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said that Haryana had become the first state to provide such facility to the employees. Now the employees could apply for loan through their Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) concerned, and directions have been issued to complete the processing of loan application within 15 days.
The employees would be eligible to avail themselves of the loan amount exceeding their prescribed loan limit. Under the agreement, the system of discretionary quotas and partial loan approval would also be done away with, he added.
Capt. Abhimanyu said that through this process, government employees would get loan at the prevailing interest rate of eight per cent. The funds provided by the government for providing loans to employees would now be utilised for the development of the state. The employees would get loans through the bank in an 'efficient, economical, easy, early and effective' manner.
Mr Sanjeev Sharan, Executive Director, said the PNB was the biggest nationalised bank in Haryana and had 509 branches operational in all districts. The bank has given the responsibility of nodal officer to a chief manager level officer at its branch in Sector 14, Panchkula, for loan related works. The nodal officer would promptly take action on the loan application.
Apart from the branch in Panchkula, 150 branches at district and block level and in Chandigarh are providing services for this work, he added.
