All Haryana Govt colleges to be made ‘Free Wi-Fi Campus’

 All government colleges in Haryana are being made ‘Free Wi-Fi Campus’.
        While stating this here today, Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that the Department of Higher Education has decided to set up free Reliance Jio Wi-Fi campuses in all the government colleges of the State. The Reliance Jio would deploy overall infrastructure for deployment of Wi-Fi or Small Cell in all the government colleges free of cost. As part of the introductory offer for all government colleges, Reliance Jio would give 20 MB free usage per day per user for all students and staff for one year. Reliance Jio would also block all objectionable websites as per Government of India directions, he added.
        He said that all the Principals of Government Colleges have been directed to provide suitable space and security for Wi-Fi or Small Cell and other relevant network equipment. They would also provide power supply for the equipment, however Reliance Jio would pay the electricity bills so generated.
        Meanwhile, the officers and officials who intend to meet the Director Higher Education would have to apply online for seeking date and time. A new menu has been created on the web-portal of the Department for facilitating the visitors. In this regard, directions have been issued to Vice-Chancellors of all government and private universities and principals of government and government aided colleges in the State.
        A ticket number would be sent to registered mobile number after filling up all columns in the prescribed performa on the web-portal. The appointment status could be checked through the ticket number.
MDU OFFICIAL CONVICTED:  The Court of Additional Sessions Judge, Rohtak has convicted Jai Kishan Ranga, Deputy Superintendent, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak to undergo four years imprisonment alongwith a fine of Rs 12,000.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Vigilance Bureau said that Jai Kishan Ranga was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Raj Singh, a resident of Riwara, district Sonepat in lieu of getting son of the complainant Harender employed as a Clerk at Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat.
          A First Information Report was registered against the accused under Sections 7 and 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act and under section 420 of Indian Penal Code at Bureau’s Police Station in Rohtak.
RAVINDER PROMOTED: The Haryana Government has promoted Ravinder Singh, Deputy Secretary, Haryana Civil Secretariat as Joint Secretary.
