Verses from Shrimad Bhagvad Gita chanted from 25 countires

CHANDIGARH, DEC 10
What may pass as a rare event, global chanting of verses from Shrimad Bhagvad Gita was done simultaneously in 25 countries from 6 pm to 6.15 pm today to spread the eternal message of Gita in the entire world.
          The countries where the verses were chanted include India, Canberra-Australia, Bahrain, Vancover-Canada, Paris-France, Hong Kong, Jakarta-Indonesia, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, UAE, UK, California, Arizona, Chicago and New York in USA
          Union Home Minister Mr Rajnath Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Education Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Health Minister Mr Anil Vij, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Krishan Kumar Bedi, MLAs Mr Subhash Sudha and Mr Pawan Saini had participated in the global chanting and recited the verses from Bhagwad Gita with others at sacred Brahamsarover in Kurukshetra. 
          Deepdaan and Gita Aarti were also performed at sacred Brahamsarover.
          Later, renowned actress Hema Malini has performed the Dropadi Dance.
            Later on, the Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal has visited the Jyotisar Tirath where the Lord Krishna had given the celestial message of Gita to Arjuna. He performed Deepdaan and Aarti at Jyotisar alongwith Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Krishan Kumar Bedi, MLAs Mr Subhash Sudha and Mr Pawan Saini.
BHAGWAT GITA IS ESSEANCE OF LIFE: The Union Home Minister, Mr Rajnath Singh, has  described Bhagwad  Gita as the essence of life and said that only the message of Gita could rid the world of the problems, including terrorism, humanity faces today. India is the only country which could give the message of spirituality to the entire world. 
          He was speaking at a programme organized on the concluding day of the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, today. Throwing light on the significance of Bhagwad Gita, the Union Home Minister said that our great saints had given the message of “Vasudev Kutumbhkam” and treated the entire mankind as their family.
          Every religion in the world has its own granth that paves the way to God. But Bhagwad Gita is the only granth by following which spirituality could be achieved while living in this world. There is no religion in the world which does not have disciples of Lord Krishna. 
          The Union Minister congratulated the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, and his cabinet colleagues for organising the grand programme of Gita Mahotsav at global level. Perhaps this programme is first-of-its kind in the country which was never seen or heard about. 
          Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Gita Jayanti is celebrated every year in Kurukshetra. But last year, the state government had announced to celebrate it at the state level under which a three-day programme was held at the district level.
       Lord Krishna had delivered the celestial message of Bhagwad Gita on this holy land of Kuruksehtra and to spread this message at the global level, we decided to organize Gita Mahotsav at international level under the guidance of Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj.
          The Chief Minister said that one person each from 574 districts of the country had reached Kurukshetra with one Shloka scripted on their traditional dresses. They have also brought along sand from their respective districts which would be utilised to make a magnificent  idol of Lord Krishna at Jyotisar in Kurukshetra to symbolise unity and integrity of the country. Apart from this, 18,473 school students together recited the 18 shlokas from 18 chapters of Gita and created a world record.
          Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj said that Gita provided the art of living which is the need of the hour. The world has recognized the significance of Gita and accepted it. He also congratulated the state government for enhancing the scope of Gita Jayanti to the global level.
          Dr. Krishan Gopal of Rastriya Swayam Sewak Sangh and Rajya Sabha MP, Mr Subhash Chandra, also spoke on this occasion.
          The Haryana Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr Krishan Kumar Bedi, MLAs Mr Subhash Sudha and Mr Pawan Saini, and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
