Revised norms for opening new government schools

CHANDIGARH, FEB 22
The Haryana Government has revised the norms for opening of new government schools and upgradation of schools to the level of Government Middle School and Government Senior Secondary School in the area of district Mewat, Morni hills in district Panchkula and Hathin Block in district Palwal.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Education Department said that for opening of branch primary school for Morni hills, it should have enrollment of 25, land 0.25 acres, two class rooms and one kilometer distance from nearest school. For upgradation from Primary to Middle School in Morni hills, the students’ strength should be 75, half acre of land, six class rooms and should be at a distance of two kilometers from the nearest school. If students are less than 75, the District Elementary Education Officer will arrange transport facility for the students to reach the nearest middle school or provide transport allowance.
          He said that in case of upgradation from Middle to Senior Secondary School in Morni hills, the students’ strength should be 105 with minimum 35 in Class VIII , one acre land,  ten class rooms and distance from nearest school should be five kilometers. If students are less than 105, the District Elementary Education Officer or District Education Officer would arrange transport facility for the students to reach the nearest Middle School or provide transport allowance.
          To open branch Primary School in Mewat district and Hathin Block in Palwal district, he said that there should be an enrollment of at least 25,half acre land for rural areas and 0.25 acre for urban areas. There should be five class rooms, one room for each class.
          Similarly for opening of Primary School for Mewat district and Hathin Block in Palwal district, enrolment should be between 150 and 300 for one school, 301 to 600 for two schools and between 601 and 900 for three schools and so on. The land required would be half acre with one kilometer distance from nearest school. Five class rooms would be required with a provision of one room for each class.
          He said that for upgradation of Primary to Middle school in Mewat district and Hathin Block, the student strength for all Primary Schools situated within two kilometre radius should be 150 with one acre of land. In addition, there should be eight class rooms with a provision of one room for each class.
          For upgradation from Middle to Senior Secondary School for girls in Mewat district and Hathin Block, the strength of girl students for all Middle Schools that is from Classes VI to VIII, situated within three kilometre should be 105. The land required would be two acres and there should be 14 class rooms with a provision of one room for each class.
          He said that for upgradation of High to Senior Secondary School in Mewat district and Hathin Block, the strength of girl student in all High Schools situated within three kilometre should be 75. The land required would be two acres and there should be 14 class rooms with a provision of one room for each class. For upgradation from Middle to Senior Secondary and from High to Senior Secondary Schools, only one school would be upgraded and the schools with highest strength of students would be given first preference for upgradation. The second preference would be given to land available in the school, he added.
