With a view to providing skills in mobile applications, the Haryana Government has decided to set up Mobile Application Centre at Hartron Multi Skill Development Centre (HMSDC), in Gurugram.
Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a proposal to this effect had been approved by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard will soon be signed between the Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation Limited and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) which is the only specialized industry body in India representing the interests of online and mobile value added services industry.
The state government would provide financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh per annum, that is Rs 1.5 crore, for three years for setting up the centre.
The spokesman said while the state government would allot fully furnished space selected in the building of Hartron, Gurugram, the IAMAI would be responsible for creating the Centre of Excellence of App development in the given space by running a structured programme in App development, identifying suitable industry experts to mentor the developers and organizing industry interaction.
Besides, it would also create different zones or labs in the centre to cater to important aspects of App development, design, testing and monetization. It would also ensure that these facilities are not only made available to the developers working at the centre, but also to the entire innovation centre, Gurugram, and visiting developers.
The spokesman said that IAMAI would co-opt reference to this Centre at all events to give wider publicity to the facility in India. It would be responsible for the day-to-day operations and hire dedicated resources for management of the centre. The IAMAI would charge a nominal fee as decided mutually from the Start-ups.
An MoU has been signed with NASSCOM for creating a Start-up Warehouse (Innovation) at Hartron Multi Skill Development Centre, Gurugram. Applications from about 100 Start-ups have already been received and the screening process would be started shortly. A team of Hartron is currently visiting state universities to initiate work on setting up of university incubation centres. The government plans to set up Start-up / Incubation Centres in seven universities of the state, the spokesman added.
