25 lakh persons enrolled under PMSBY

CHANDIGARH, MAY 25
 As many as 25.05 lakh people in Haryana have been enrolled under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana’ (PMSBY) scheme from May, 2015 to April, 2017. Under this scheme, accidental insurance cover is being provided to all residents of Haryana in the age group of 18 to 70 years.
        Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain, who was redressing the grievances of people here today, said that under this scheme, the risk coverage available is Rs two lakh for accidental death and permanent total disability, and Rs one lakh for permanent partial disability.
Permanent total disability is defined as total and irrecoverable loss of both eyes or loss of use of both hands or feet or loss of eyesight and loss of use of a hand or a foot. Permanent partial disability is defined as total and irrecoverable loss of eyesight or loss of use of a hand or foot.
        She said that the scheme was being offered through banks and administered through public sector general insurance companies and other general insurance companies. All residents of Haryana having Aadhaar-seeded saving bank accounts, in the age group of 18 to 70 years, are entitled to join the scheme. Aadhaar is the primary KYC for the bank account and insurance coverage, she added.
