Using drones to check illegal encroachment on Govt properties

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 1
The Haryana Government has decided to conduct aerial surveys by using drones to keep a check on the illegal encroachment and construction on government properties in the State. To begin with, such survey would be conducted in Karnal, Gurugram and Faridabad.
          A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here today. On success of this pilot run, the project would be implemented in the remaining districts also.
          The Chief Minister directed the Urban Local Bodies department to prepare a road-map along with the time line for the implementation of this project and submit within a week. He also asked the department to take the assistance of Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC) and National Remote Sensing Authority (NRSA) for the satellite imaginary of the areas and also for setting up of ground control points necessary for conducting the survey. Haryana is the first State to set up 700 primary and secondary ground control points in the State.
          Mr Manohar Lal also directed the departments concerned to gather complete information or data about any illegal construction or encroachment on their land within a month so that action could be taken against those found guilty. He also asked the departments of Urban Local Bodies, Town and Country Planning and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to ensure strict enforcement of laws for against illegal encroachments and construction in their respective areas.
          He said the after the implementation of this project there would be considerable reduction in the litigation as well as police cases. He said that a system would have to be put in place to keep a tab on illegal encroachments on the government property and added that the State Government has implemented Housing for All and other schemes to provide affordable housing facility to the people of the State.
          Among those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Departments Mrs Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayats Mrs Navraj Sandhu, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Mr Anand Mohan Sharan, Principal Secretary, Science and Technology  Mr Ashok Khemka, Principal Secretary, Town and Country Planning Mr Arun Kumar Gupta, Chief Administrator, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) Mr Vikas Yadav, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Town and Country Planning Mr Shekhar Vidyarthi, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Development  and  Panchayats and Rural Development Mr Ashok Kumar Meena and other senior officers of the State Government.
