Rs1.29 crore sanctioned under "Earn While You Learn" scheme

CHANDIGARH, JULY 11
The Haryana government has sanctioned a sum of over Rs1.29 crore for year 2017-18 under the scheme "Earn While You Learn" started for students studying in government colleges.
          While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that this scheme was started by the government to create a sense of working among students during the study period. Under this, students of colleges are given part time work like jobs of labs, libraries and college offices. He said that the scheme aimed the students can earn while learning, if required, and they can continue study on their own. This scheme provides an opportunity for students to develop work culture and self-confidence.
PRIOR PERMISSION NEEDED: Haryana Higher Education Department has instructed all the government colleges in the state that extension lecturers in any of the government college will not be engaged without prior permission of the Department.
                    While stating this here today, a spokesman of the department said that a policy for extension lecturers was being framed by the government. He said that the colleges are currently undergoing admission process and workload of new academic session would be counted only after the completion of the admission process. In previous instructions issued by the department, it was clarified that without the prior permission of the department, new extension lecturers would not be engaged in any of the government colleges.
          He said that the now the department has instructed principals of all the colleges again as per which the process to engage extension lecturer should only be started after the instructions to be issued by the department for the new academic session. If anyone violates these guidelines, departmental proceedings would be initiated against them, he added.
SIX SHOPS SEALED: Under its special search operation, the Haryana Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has sealed six shops in different areas of the state for committing various irregularities. Besides, two persons were arrested for carrying 6,420 tablets of alprazolam and 44 bottles of codeine phosphate syrup.
        While stating this here today, State Drug Controller, Mr. Narendra Ahuja said that the operation was being carried out in the state as per the directions of Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij.
          Under this operation, action is being taken against unauthorised medical stores in the state, medicines being sold without prescription, shops operating in the absence of pharmacist, sale of MTP kits and against those who violate rules. Besides, samples of milk, curd and ghee were also collected from different dairies in district Fatehabad. These have been sent to laboratory for testing, he added.
        He said that Mohd. Rizwan, resident of district Sangrur, Punjab and Pankaj Nagpal, resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, were caught carrying large amounts of alprazolam tablets and codeine phosphate syrup at a naka laid by FDA and Police in Kurukshetra. A case was registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. As alprazolam tablets and codeine phosphate syrup are used for intoxication, these could not be sold without prescription, he added.
          Mr. Ahuja said that six medical stores in districts Jind, Narnaul, Yamunanagar and Fatehabad were sealed and legal action was initiated against them for selling medicines without prescription of doctor and in the absence of pharmacist.
LOGO DESIGN COMPETITIION: With a view to providing an opportunity to  youth to showcase their creative talent, the Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University has decided to organize Logo Design Competition with first, second and third prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the University said that apart from this, the selected five more entries would receive reward prize of Rs 1500 each.
