President gives assent for Ayush University in Kurukshetra

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 4
The President of India, Mr Ram Nath Kovind, has given its assent to the proposal for setting up the world’s first AYUSH University at Kurukshetra in Haryana. 
          Disclosing this here today, the Health and AYUSH Minister, Mr Anil Vij, said notification for setting up the first-of-its-kind global standard university would be issued soon. 
          Spread over about 100 acres, the university would have best study and treatment in all branches of AYUSH. Undergraduate and postgraduate level departments of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy would be opened in which ancient science would be brought to the public with the help of modern scientific methods.
      Mr Vij said our ancient sages and monks first presented Ayurveda for the treatment of people. The Haryana Government has made a successful attempt to revive this ancient sysyem of medicine. 
          The proposal was passed in the state Assembly last year for the setting up AYUSH University which was later sent to various ministries of the Union Government for approval. These included the Ministry of Home, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Health and Family Welfare, AYUSH, Law and Justice and Ministry of Legal and Legislative. Later, the President gave his consent to our proposal, he added.
