Major relief to the ply board industry in Haryana

CHANDIGARH, NOV 10
Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that in a major relief to the ply board industry in the State, the rate of tax on ply board has been reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. This would fulfill the request made by the representatives of the association of more than hundreds of plywood and related manufacturers of the State, he added.
          Capt. Abhimanyu, who is also the member of the GST Council, was speaking after the 23rd meeting of GST Council in Guwahati. He said that Haryana is one of the largest manufacturers of the ply board.
          The Finance Minister said that the rates of tax under GST on spare parts of agriculture implement parts have also been brought down from 18 per cent to 12 per cent on the insistence of the state. He said that the rate of taxes on some of the key items critical to the state have been brought down with the persistence of the state.
          He said that the rate of tax on those scientific instruments which were taxed at 28 per cent under the GST have been placed in the category of 18 per cent. These are microphones, direction finding compasses, hydrographic instruments, balances, machines and appliances for testing hardness strength, elasticity, hydrometer, thermometer, barometer, pyrometers, hygrometer, refractometer, spectrometer, polarimeter, instruments for measuring viscosity and surface tension. He said that there about 2,000 such units in the state mostly in district Ambala.
