Haryana Governor urges people to adopt yoga and Ayurveda

CHANDIGARH, NOV 6
The Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, today urged the people to adopt yoga and Ayurveda to live a healthy life.  Many diseases hitherto considered incurable can be treated by Yoga and Ayurveda, he said.
        The Governor was speaking at the closing ceremony of the International Conference on Non-communicable Diseases in PGIMER here today. Organized by the World Non-Communicable Disease Federation, the three-day conference was attended by about 1,000 delegates from 100 countries.
At the closing ceremony, the Governor and experts in medical field issued 'Chandigarh Declaration' letter. Prof Solanki also honoured delegates for best entries.
        Prof. Solanki said without good health, all achievements of a man were useless, because only a person having good health could enjoy the pleasures of life. Hence, those spreading awareness about health are doing true human service. 
   Yoga and Ayurveda are good for all human beings as they have no side effects on the body. Thus, on the initiative of the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, the United Nations had declared International Yoga Day on 21st June, he added.
    Others who spoke included Convener, World Scientific Committee, Dr. Dhirendra Narayan Sinha, and Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Prof. Arun Grover. Those present included Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. Jagat Ram, Chairman, World Non-communicable Disease Federation, Dr. J. S. Thakur, and senior doctors Dr. Thaksfan Thamarangsi, Dr. G. Devgan and Dr. Rajiv Kumar.
