Hoodas misguiding the people, alleges Capt. Abhimanyu

CHANDIGARH, NOV 3
The Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, has taken strong exception to the statements made by Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Chief Minister, and Mr Deepender Singh Hooda, MP, on the financial condition of the state, and said that both father and son are trying to misguide the people by issuing false and misleading statements.
But the people are well aware of the truth and would not fall prey to their attempts to destabilize the present government, Capt
Abhimanyu said while addressing a press conference here today. The state government would expose their lies and bring out the truth in front of the people, he added.
The Finance Minister said during the ten-year rule of the previous Congress Government led by Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, people had to face rampant corruption, nepotism and casteism. Now that the present government led by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has instilled a sense of belief in the people by putting an end to the politics based on casteism and regionalism, they are unable to digest it. They are not only spreading casteisem but are also vitiating the atmosphere of brotherhood in the name of Jat agitation.
Referring to the statement made by the former Chief Minister that when he presented the budget in 2014-15, the state had a loan of Rs 70,000 crore which had now increased to Rs 1,41,000 crore, the Finance Minister said in the 2014-15 budget, the loan proposed was Rs 70,900 crore but this was in addition to Rs 36,000 crore loan which included loan of Rs 25,750 crore on power utilities.
The present government has not taken any new loan but has taken over the loan of Rs 25,750 crore of power utilities. The loan of Rs 1,41,000 crore for 2017-18 is well within the loan capacity limit of the government, he said.
Dismissing the allegations that the present government has wasted Rs 1,600 crore on Swarna Jayanti celebrations of the state as baseless, Capt Abhimanyu clarified that a sum of Rs 100 crore had been earmarked for the Swarna Jayanti celebrations from inaugural  to the closing ceremony. Out of this, Rs 90 crore was allocated to the Sports and Youth Affairs Department and Rs 10 crore to the Swarna Jayanti Celebrations Authority out of which only Rs 27 crore had been spent. This amount also includes the cost of the awards given to artists and sports persons, he added.
Capt. Abhimanyu ridiculed the statement made by Mr Deepender  Hooda MP that during their tenure, the economy of the state had grown by 36 per cent, saying that he had a skewed understanding of economic matters. His statement is similar to what he said in the Lok Sabha about the size of potato in the Lok Sabha.
The Finance Minister said there was also a huge difference in terms of the loans taken and money spent by the previous government and the present government. “We have done exceptional work by giving Rs 3,000 crore to the farmers in the last three years on account of damage to the crops due to natural calamities. Contrary to this, the previous government did not spend even Rs 800 crore on this account during its ten-year two-term tenure.
Besides, the present government ensured availabilty of adequate amount of urea, water and electricity to the farmers and also restarted the purchase of Bajra and Moong. The UPA Government effected a hike of Rs 320 per quintal in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat during its ten-year rule whereas, the BJP Government, led by Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, has increased the MSP of wheat by Rs 335 in just three years. Such increase has never been made in the history of the country, he added.
Capt. Abhimanyu said while the BJP believed in doing, Congress just believed in issuing false statements to mislead people. “We are heading towards Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate of above 9 per cent in 2017-18 whereas it was 7.7 in 2012-13, 8.2 per cent in 2013-14, 5.7 per cent in 2014-15, 9.0 per cent in 2015-16 and 8.7 per cent in 2016-17.
He also criticized the previous government for working irresponsibly  as a result of which important institutions like the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), Power Utilities and cooperative banks were reeling under financial crunch. However, the present government under the leadership of Mr Manohar Lal is working to help these institutions to recover their losses and ensure that they run into profits.
In the World Bank ranking on ease of doing business, India has reached top 100 countries of the world. No other country has jumped so many points in this short span of time. Similarly, Haryana which ranked 14th in terms of ease of doing business three years ago has now reached second position which is quite an achievement, he added.
